yProm season is upon us and we want to help you understand the different types of flowers you can give during this season!
Prom is such a magical time....oh young love. ;) Picking our dresses or getting fitted for a tux, this time of year is a time to look your best whether you are going with a group of friends or a special someone.
So what is proper floral etiquette during this event?
So you are a young man taking a young lady to prom, she may or may not be your girlfriend, but it is still proper to bring her flowers and you have a few options! First, you can stick with the traditional wrist corsage for her to wear around her wrist. This is a nice option because she won't have to pin anything to her fragile dress or she won't have to carry flowers around for the evening. But the flower options don't stop there!
A new trend is to bring a bouquet to her when you pick her up for the big dance! A nice loose wrap bouquet that she can put into a vase and enjoy for the entire week after the big night.
Now, last, but not least the biggest up and coming trend is the Nosegay bouquet (shown above), also known as "tussie-mussie", is making its appearance on the scene. A Nosegay is a small bouquet, often adorned with jewels or pearl. They are fragrant in scent and small enough to carry around for the evening. These are often hand-tied and wrapped with beautiful ribbon. Perfect size for a young lady to carry around for photos before and during the dance.
Now for the young ladies who have a young man that is taking them to the dance. It is proper etiquette to bring that young man who is taking you to the dance flowers. :) The traditional option is to bring your date a boutonniere. Boutonnieres are a group of small flowers or a single stem that is wrapped and prepared for easy attachment to the shirt or jacket that your date may be wearing. These often coordinate with the dress and tie/bow tie colors for your evening. However, we have noticed more often that dates are going with bright and vibrant colors for a SPLASH of color rather than coordinating.
The best part about all of this?!?! You can do order and personalize these awesome floral options! If you have any questions always call your local certified florist for advice on the right option for you!
